The one type of advice that never gets old.
My Google history is very familiar with this search habit.
Hiii Outlouders, Em Vernem here 🙋🏾♀️
In this week’s newsletter, I need to unpack the question my co-worker Liv James asked celebrities at the Logie Awards because: OBSESSED. Would you look at the reaction from Andy Lee and Bec Harding?
If you’ve listened to Friday’s show, you probably know where I’m going with this. Our hosts gave their own answers to that question and I honestly think you should grab a notebook because you’re about to LEARN.
🎧 Catch the segment at the 14:24 mark below.
But before we fully get into it, let’s start rolling with our favourite part of the week… ⬇️
Weekly Reccos 📺 📖 🎧
Here’s what our Out Loud hosts suggest you should read, watch and buy.
Mia wants you to read
Margo’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe. As the child of a Hooters waitress and an ex-pro wrestler, Margo has always known she'd have to make it on her own. She's still figuring things out when she falls pregnant unexpectedly. Despite everyone's advice, she decides to keep the baby and starts an OnlyFans to support them both.
It’s just written in a clever, interesting way. It’s a good, easy page-turner. I’m really liking it.
Holly wants you to watch
The Assembly on ABC iView. This reality documentary series features a group of students from Macquarie University who have autism, being tutored in journalism by journalist and author, Leigh Sales.
In every episode, the students interview a famous person. Leigh helps them workshop their questions and practise how they’re going to ask them before the celebrity arrives at the ABC studio to be interviewed.
It’s so interesting and engaging to see people who you might have preconceived ideas about, how young people with autism might act, and it’s just not like that.
Jessie wants you to buy
AIRism Ultra Stretch Leggings from Uniqlo.
The thing about a good pair of tights is that I want them high. I can't have them around my hips, my widest point — I'm just gonna feel uncomfortable all day. They have to be super stretchy and really, really soft. These are buttery soft. They’re the most comfortable tights I’ve ever put on. I could wear them to bed — they're that comfortable.

So, you’ve just gone through a breakup? Here’s what you do.
My colleague and close friend Liv James was going through a breakup on Sunday.
Yes, we’ve all experienced being dumped but not all of us have experienced such heartbreak hours before you’re supposed to interview some of the biggest Aussie celebrities on the Logies red carpet. As you can probably guess, that’s exactly what Liv had to do.
I would have called in sick and cried myself to sleep. Liv, however, is much stronger than me and truly leaned in by putting her heart on the line. She told the celebs what had happened that morning and asked for their advice on how to deal with the sorry situation.
Heartbreak is the one thing that you always want advice on, every time it happens. It’s also the one thing that no matter who you are, you’re always willing to give advice about because you know exactly how rubbish it feels.
Interviewing these celebrities showed that heartbreak is a universal experience that isn’t protected by fame and fortune.
It’s such a unique feeling of hurt, you’ll do whatever it takes to avoid having to experience it again. That’s why I can’t stop reading Liv’s piece on all the advice she was given. Grab your tissues and read it here. PSA: there are some lols too!
If you want to see the stars’ reactions to finding out Liv was dumped just before the show, watch the video we posted to the Mamamia Instagram below.
Oh, you want more?
From Logies to celeb breakups to It Ends With Us lore, we’ve covered a lot over at Mamamia HQ. If you can’t stop thinking about one of the topics on the podcast, check out these reads:
MIA FREEDMAN: 'Every question you have about attending the Logie Awards, answered.'
Why two of Australia’s biggest stars did not attend the Logies.
Want to know the hidden details in JLo’s and Ben Affleck’s divorce filing? Here ya go.
HOLLY WAINWRIGHT: 'This week, everyone's mad with Harry and Meghan for all the wrong reasons.'
This It Ends With Us star has finally weighed in on the public backlash.
What you said 📣
On Tuesday, Mia did a bit of a tell-all as someone who attended the Logies. Holly put a call out in the Outlouders’ Facebook group for questions to ask Mia and you did not hold back. Not all of them were questions, some were… observations. And by ‘observations’, I mean all of us just trying to spot Mia. Here are some gems that I found:
“Just booted my hubby off Kayo on the main TV so I can try to catch a glimpse of Mia on the red carpet.” - Katherine
“I never watched the Logies until tonight.” - Amanda
“I didn’t see her on the red carpet. I’m keeping my eye on the room (looking for a pile of fidget toys 😊)” - Trish
For those playing at home, at Mamamia we were also looking out for her. Here’s a screenshot of the Out Loud group chat.
Don’t worry, our red carpet girls found her 🎉
ICYMI, we went on a bit of a journey to find out what outfit Mia was going to wear to the show. You can read about it here.
And, the moment you’ve been waiting for… If you haven’t already, you can listen to Mia spill on exactly what it’s like to go to the Logies.

Very cutesy, very mindful very ✨demure✨
We are well and truly in the midst of the demure trend. If you’re not sure what this is, can you please find someone who does and LMK because I’m also very much in the dark. However, this hasn’t stopped me from taking part. It’s so average yet so much fun.
If you want a deep dive into what it means to be demure, check out this post below.
Here are our hosts looking very cutesy, very mindful:
